About the Area
Le Duc is located on the borders of the Lot, Dordogne and the Corrèze, which has a wonderful variety of surrounding countryside that is ideal for exploring by car, by bicycle or on foot. The area is famous for historic villages with Collonges-la-Rouge, Turenne, and Martel being only ten minutes drive away, whilst the medieval towns of Rocamadour, Sarlat, Domme and the prehistoric caves of Lascaux are just a little further. The villages of Les Quatres Routes (two kilometres) and Meyssac (six kilometres) have well stocked small supermarkets as well as butchers, bakers, pharmacies, hairdressers, cafés and bars.

There are two very good value, child-friendly, restaurants within easy walking distance of the house, and another just two kilometres away in Les-Quatres-Routes. Every day there are open-air markets in one of the surrounding villages or towns offering a wonderful variety of local produce.

There are international airports at
Toulouse, Bordeaux, Bergerac, and Limoges. From the U.K., Easyjet flies to Toulouse from Gatwick & Bristol; bmi flies from Manchester to Bordeaux; while  Ryanair flies from East Midlands to Limoges. Car rental is available at the airports.
How to get to "Le Duc"
By Rail 
The railway station at
Brive (25 kilometres north of Le Duc) is just 4 hours by train from Paris and two hours from Toulouse
The surrounding countryside is full of animals and birds from red squirrels and pine martens to nightingales and golden aurioles and there are plenty of outdoor activities close to Le Duc Gites, tennis courts are within easy reach, and there are three golf courses about 25 minutes away. Canoeing on the Dordogne River is available six miles away, bicycles can be rented locally to explore the by-ways, and horse trekking is available just a kilometre from the house. There are numerous walking trails close by and many more further afield. The area also has various small vinyards and wine producers, a distillery and many regional food specialists, all of whom welcome visitors to taste their produce
