The
Dordogne area of
France is renowned for its lovely coutryside with an abundance of wild life and historic villages. The towns of
Collonges-la-Rouge,
Turenne and
Martel are nearby the Gites with the medieval towns of
Rocamadour,
Sarlat and
Domme only a short drive away. There are plenty of outdoor
activities in the area,
Golf,
Canoeing at Souillac,
Fishing on the Dordogne River (approximately six miles away), bicycles can be rented locally to explore the by-ways, and horse trekking is available just a kilometre from the house.
Situated
on an ancient Pilgrim Route and the site of a former Monastery, the three
holiday cottages, Le Duc
Gites Dordogne, was reputedly a stopping off place for the
Knights Templar.
